Couples Therapy Cost in Copenhagen: What You’re Paying For

Before booking couples therapy, you’ll probably want to know what it costs and what happens in a session. Regular appointments are a commitment, particularly if you’re also arranging childcare or taking time away from work.
It’s reasonable to ask about fees, appointment length, and how often you might need to attend before deciding to start.
How much does couples therapy cost?
Fees vary between therapists and practices in Copenhagen. When comparing prices, check the appointment length as well as the therapist’s training and experience working with couples.
A longer session will have a different cost from a shorter appointment. Some therapists also use separate assessment appointments or questionnaires, so ask whether those involve additional charges.
At Village Therapy, we can explain the fee for the therapist and appointment type you’re considering before you book.
What happens during the appointment?
The therapist helps you look closely at conversations that keep going wrong and understand what happens between you.
For example, one partner might raise a concern about household responsibilities. The other hears criticism and starts defending what they already do. Soon, you’re arguing about who works harder, and the original concern has barely been discussed.
In therapy, we can slow that conversation down. What was each person trying to communicate? Where did it become difficult to listen? What needs to be addressed, and how can you talk about it more clearly?
Depending on your concerns, the work may also involve rebuilding trust, addressing unresolved hurt, discussing intimacy, or agreeing on changes to daily routines. We’ll connect the sessions to what you want to change in your relationship.
How often will you need to attend?
We discuss this after learning more about what brings you in. Your goals, the difficulties you’re facing, and what you can realistically manage all matter.
Ask about an initial plan and when you’ll review progress. You should have opportunities to discuss whether the work is helping and whether the appointment frequency still makes sense.
Your budget belongs in that conversation too. If regular sessions would put pressure on your finances, bring it up early.
Can insurance help?
Check with your insurer before booking. Ask specifically about couples therapy, since coverage for individual psychological treatment may have different conditions.
Give them the practitioner’s details and ask whether both partners are covered, whether you need advance approval, and whether there is a limit on reimbursement. Your provider can explain their fees, but the insurer needs to confirm what your policy will pay.
Deciding whether to start
Consider what you want help with and what a useful change would look like. Perhaps you want to discuss parenting without arguing, feel closer again, or work out whether you both want to continue the relationship.
An introductory conversation gives you a chance to ask how the therapist works and discuss the practical commitment. You can then make a decision with a clearer se
nse of what’s involved.
If you’re considering couples therapy at Village Therapy, you can book a free 15-minute introductory call to discuss your situation and ask about fees.
