Therapy with Teens

Being a teenager can involve a lot of pressure. School, friendships, family expectations, and questions about who you are can all feel demanding at once. Sometimes that shows up as worry, withdrawal, irritability, or feeling overwhelmed. Sometimes it is simply hard to explain what is wrong.

Therapy gives teens a place to talk with someone outside their family and school. We can explore anxiety, low mood, relationships, identity, self-esteem, or whatever feels most important to them. Sessions may include conversation, practical skills, or creative activities, depending on the teen’s needs and the therapist’s approach.

We take time to understand what the teen wants from therapy, including when a parent has suggested it. We also discuss privacy and its limits from the beginning, so everyone understands what stays within sessions and when information may need to be shared. Parents can be involved where appropriate, with attention to the teen’s growing independence.

Next step: Contact us with the teen’s age and a brief description of what they would like support with.
