Therapy with Teens

Being a teenager can involve a lot of pressure. School, friendships, family expectations, and questions about who you are can all feel demanding at once. Sometimes that shows up as worry, withdrawal, irritability, or feeling overwhelmed. Sometimes it is simply hard to explain what is wrong.

Therapy gives teens a place to talk with someone outside their family and school. We can explore anxiety, low mood, relationships, identity, self-esteem, or whatever feels most important to them. Sessions may include conversation, practical skills, or creative activities, depending on the teen’s needs and the therapist’s approach.

We take time to understand what the teen wants from therapy, including when a parent has suggested it. We also discuss privacy and its limits from the beginning, so everyone understands what stays within sessions and when information may need to be shared. Parents can be involved where appropriate, with attention to the teen’s growing independence.

Next step: Contact us with the teen’s age and a brief description of what they would like support with.

Practical information

Teen therapy is offered by Gabriela Palú, Lauren O’Hagan, Annalisa Jelmoni, Melanie Bühne and Ariel Andersen. The languages available depend on the clinician. We work with teens aged 13–17 in English, Portuguese, Danish, German or Italian; check the other profiles or contact us about your teen’s age and preferred language.

Sessions take place at Village Therapy, Kompagnistræde 16, 2nd floor, 1208 København K, in central Copenhagen near Gammel Strand.

Before you book, your clinician will confirm the fee, appointment length and arrangements for parent involvement. You will also discuss confidentiality, including what information may need to be shared and when.

Contact us to ask about a suitable clinician, or book a free introductory call. If you use the contact form, leave your contact details and we will get in touch. You can discuss the teen’s concerns directly with the clinician.
