Exposure and response prevention for OCD and phobias

When fear tells you to avoid something, check, seek reassurance, or perform a ritual, doing so can bring quick relief. Then the fear returns, often louder. Exposure and response prevention (ERP) helps you change that cycle.

Together we identify what you fear and the things you do to feel safe. We then build a plan for approaching feared situations or thoughts while practising a different response. The exercises are collaborative and gradual. We do not need to throw you into the hardest thing on day one.

ERP is especially associated with OCD and can also inform treatment for specific fears. We will discuss the nature of your symptoms and whether ERP, another form of exposure therapy, or a different approach makes sense. The goal is greater freedom in your day, even when uncertainty or discomfort shows up.

Next step: Contact us about your symptoms and ask for an ERP-trained clinician.
