OCD & Intrusive Thoughts

OCD can make a thought feel urgent, dangerous, or impossible to leave alone. You might check, repeat something, ask for reassurance, avoid a situation, or try to work out what the thought says about you. Sometimes the compulsions happen entirely in your mind, so other people do not see how much time and energy they take.

We begin by understanding your particular cycle: the intrusive thought or doubt, the fear it brings up, and what you do to get relief. A therapist trained in Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) can help you practise facing uncertainty without doing the rituals or mental reviewing that keep the cycle going. We plan the exercises together and build up gradually.

You do not need to tell us every detail at once. Intrusive thoughts can be upsetting precisely because they clash with what matters to you. The work is about changing your response to them so OCD has less say in your life.
