Trauma
Understand how difficult experiences affect you and work with a therapist at a pace that respects your needs and choices.

Trauma-informed therapy
After a distressing experience, your body and mind may keep responding as though danger is still close. You might avoid reminders, feel constantly on alert, shut down, or find that relationships have become harder to navigate. Sometimes the connection to a particular experience is clear. Sometimes it takes time to understand.
Trauma-informed therapy starts with safety, choice, and a pace you can tolerate. We can work on understanding your responses, building ways to stay grounded, and making room to process what happened when that feels appropriate. You do not have to tell the whole story in the first session, or at all before you are ready.
Different clinicians use different methods. We will be clear about what a therapist is trained to offer and discuss referrals when a more specialized service would fit better.
