Therapy for Relationships

You may be having the same argument over and over, feeling distant despite living together, or trying to rebuild trust after something painful. Sometimes you just want a place to talk before the relationship reaches a crisis.

Couples therapy helps both partners understand what happens between them. We pay attention to the moments when a conversation turns into a fight, one person shuts down, or each of you feels alone with a problem. The goal is to make those patterns easier to see and to create new ways of responding to each other.

Sessions can involve communication, intimacy, parenting, conflict, major decisions, or the question of whether to stay together. Your therapist will make room for both perspectives and help you have conversations that are difficult to manage at home. Depending on the clinician, the work may draw on Emotion Focused Therapy, the Gottman Method, or other approaches.
