Therapy for phobias

A specific fear can take up a surprising amount of space. You may plan journeys around it, ask other people to handle certain tasks, or spend days worrying about an encounter that lasts minutes. The fear can feel unreasonable and still be very real in your body.

We begin by understanding what you are afraid might happen and what you do to prevent it. Treatment often includes gradual exposure: approaching feared situations in planned steps while learning that you can stay with the discomfort. We decide the pace together and review what you learn along the way.

Phobias can involve animals, flying, vomiting, medical procedures, or many other situations. If the fear is part of a broader pattern, such as OCD or panic, we will take that into account when planning treatment.

Next Steps: Tell us what you are afraid of and what it is stopping you from doing.
