Therapy for emotional regulation

Sometimes an emotion arrives so quickly that your reaction is already underway before you understand what happened. You snap, cry, shut down, or feel an urgent need to get away. Afterwards, you may feel embarrassed or spend hours trying to recover.

Therapy can help you notice the early signs of an emotional response and understand what makes it harder to manage. We might look at physical sensations, thoughts, unmet needs, sleep, stress, and patterns in your relationships. We can then practise ways to stay with an emotion, reduce escalation, and choose how you want to respond.

That might include grounding, naming what you feel, communicating before you reach your limit, or learning how to return to a conversation after taking a break. We will work with the situations that actually come up in your life.

Emotions carry information, even when they are uncomfortable. We can help you understand that information and build more room between feeling something and acting on it.

Next Step: Book an introductory call to talk about the reactions you would like help understanding.
