Therapy for attachment and relationship patterns

A delayed reply can leave you feeling unsettled for hours. You might need closeness and then pull away when it arrives, or find it easier to manage everything yourself than ask someone for help. These patterns can become especially noticeable when a relationship matters to you.

Attachment offers one way to understand how you experience closeness, separation, trust, and dependence. In therapy, we can explore what you learned about relationships, how those expectations show up now, and what happens when you feel hurt or uncertain. We will pay attention to your current relationships as well as your history.

The work might involve recognizing your reactions earlier, expressing needs more directly, setting boundaries, or staying present during a difficult conversation. We can also use the therapeutic relationship to notice what it feels like to rely on someone and be understood.

Attachment labels can be a starting point for reflection. Your experience is likely to be more detailed than a single category can capture.
