Archetypal Psychology

Explore dreams, symbols, and recurring patterns to understand the stories that shape your life and relationships.

Some patterns keep coming back. You might find yourself in the same kind of relationship for the third time, return to the same dream for years, or feel cast in a role in your family or at work that you never chose. Archetypal psychology takes those repetitions seriously and gets curious about what they might mean.

The approach grows out of the work of Carl Jung, who noticed that certain images and stories appear again and again across cultures, in myths, fairy tales, and dreams. He called these shared patterns archetypes. In therapy, that can mean paying attention to a dream you can't stop thinking about, the images that come up when you describe a feeling, or the story you tell about your own life. Your therapist helps you explore what these might say about your needs, your values, and the direction your life is taking.

This way of working can be especially helpful during grief or a major transition, including a move abroad, when an old sense of who you are no longer fits and a new one hasn't formed yet. You don't need to know anything about Jung, symbolism, or dream work to begin.
